I don’t love to admit it, but before I joined the Food52 team, I was not a world-champion meal planner. I spent five years in an office where “lunch hour” meant: “pop out for quick takeaway.” And “weeknight dinner” meant: “the fantasy of an alternate universe where people leave work before 8:30 p.m.”

Accordingly, I struggled to get my act together when I first crossed the threshold of Food52 HQ. But, it turned out, all I had to do was look around. My new colleagues were like the Olympic Varsity All-Star Meal Planning team. (Is it too clear from that description that I’ve never watched sports?) They even wrote a book on it.

There are many things about Easter that I look forward to, from dip-dyeing hard-boiled eggs to heating up Peeps in the microwave. But one of my favorites is sitting down to dinner with the whole family, which isn’t something we necessarily do every Sunday (especially now that I’m out of the house).

Whether it’s a classic glazed ham served alongside roasted green beans or deviled eggs and leg of lamb slathered in neon-green mint jelly, there are plenty of traditional Easter favorites that the whole family will love. This list of our 25 best Easter dinner recipes has it all—including some new dishes you might want to add to your spread, too.

You will never find me in a restaurant on Valentine’s Day. No offense to pre-fixe menus, but I’d always rather be at home, cooking with my husband, martinis on the counter, music humming. Only here can I be barefoot, lingering forever over the food and eating exactly what I want. In that spirit, I drummed up 10 different menus, each with a main, one or two sides, and, naturally, dessert. Because no date-night dinner should skip dessert. Which one would you pick? Let me know in the comments below.

Menu 1

Steak Au Poivre

This juicy steak is all about the creamy, peppery Cognac sauce. For two, divide the number of steaks in half—but may I be so bold as to suggest that you keep the sauce quantities as is. You can never have too much.

It’s seems strange that there’s only one day a year dedicated to celebrating moms—the women who taught us how to tie our shoes and blow our noses. They feed us, clothe us, and (when we’re grown) share a drink with us to recall all the times they almost lost it while taking care of us.

Mom, it’s time to return the favor: with a meal that shows just how much we appreciate you. We’ll act like the responsible adults you raised us to be; we’ll make a grocery list three days out, prep the sides the day before, and set the table that morning. This year we’re going big (or we’re not going home).
